Campsites for Motorhomes & Campervans in Scotland

by Jennifer Watson

Get behind the wheel of a campervan and the open road is yours to explore. Adventure and Scotland’s hidden gems are waiting to be discovered with every corner turned and hill climbed.

That’s what we love about motorhome holidays – the freedom and flexibility to go where you want, when you want. But sometimes it’s great to have a bit more of a plan – and that’s where campsites come in.

A campervan really is a home from home and it’s your safe haven for the whole of your rental, no matter where you lay your hat for the night. However, staying on a campsite often means access to extra facilities, information and local knowledge that can make your already excellent holiday into something really special. There’s also the peace of mind that comes with knowing your space is booked for the night and all you have to do is arrive and get the kettle on, or the beers out – well, you are on holiday!

We’re lucky enough in Scotland to have many campsites that not only offer excellent facilities but they’re in pretty great locations too.

Here are just a few that are worth checking out…

Bunroy Caravan & Camping Site, near Fort William
The location of this Highland site is fantastic.  Set in nine acres of secluded parkland on the banks of the River Spean, enjoy breathtaking scenery by simply looking out your window and if you want even more, Fort William is just 20 minutes away. It’s an ideal base for exploring, walking, cycling or fishing.

Bught Park, Inverness
If you’re looking for somewhere located close to OutThere Campers to see what Inverness has to offer, all from the comfort of your motorhome, Bught Park could be the place for you. Just 15 minutes walk from Inverness Castle and close to Inverness Aquadome & Sport Centre and Inverness Floral Hall and Visitor Centre, the campsite itself is on the edge of Bught Park. It’s also ideal for a spot of Nessie hunting as the site runs along the edge of Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal.

Clachtoll Beach Campsite, Lochinver
Located in Sutherland, in the North West of Scotland, five miles North of the village of Lochinver, this campsite is in an area renowned for outstanding natural beauty and spectacular land and seascapes. Despite its rural location the campsite still manages to offer wifi meaning you can upload pictures of your holiday immediately – showing off the incredible scenes you have discovered – and probably turning friends and family green with envy at the same time.
